Why Words Are Powerful...
What does word mean? According to Merriam-Webster, word means a speech sound or series of speech sounds that symbolizes and communicates a meaning usually without being divisible into smaller units capable of independent use.

Synonyms for the word "word" includes talk, discourse, order, command, news, information, rumor, promise, declaration, gospel. Another meaning according to Merriam-Webster is the expressed or manifested mind and will of God. Words are the primary way humans express themselves. Words have the power to trigger thought, induce feelings, expand knowledge capacity, and motivate.

Humans are 3-D creatures. We're a SOUL with a SPIRIT living in BODY. The Creator created us by His word.
Genesis 1:26 testifies that God SAID "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..." God used words to create us. Humans are the only physical creatures in the earth that can communicate by words. In that way, we are created in the likeness of God.

Words have the power to trigger thought. Words can provoke thoughts that give life and take life. Thoughts come in the form of sentences. Sentences are made of words. The origin of thought will determine if the words are divine or demonic. Simply, words are spirits. Spirits are defined as a supernatural being or essence, ghost. Also, the Hebrew word behind spirit is Ruach, and it means "air in motion." Think about the way in which speaking is achieved. Air (breath) passes through the larynx to produce a sound through vibration. God is wise. Jesus used parables to help us understand the Kingdom of Heaven. See the parallel between air moving through the larynx to produce speech and spirits (words) being air in motion. God by His Spirit said "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..." And it happened. If God gave us His likeness to speak, then our words can create LIKE His.

Words can induce feelings. Negative or positive, emotions are very powerful motivators. Words have intent. Sometimes, the intent is to influence emotion to get humans to be swayed in a particular direction. Emotions, if not sanctified, can cause humans to move by the flesh. We are ordered to walk after the Spirit of God. Galatians 5:16-17 states "This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would." Walk in the Spirit? Simply put, we are commanded to be guided by the Word of God. When we walk after the Spirit, we gain life. When we obey the Spirit, we will not obey the lust of the flesh.

Words motive. Words can affect human behaviors. Paul persuaded Timothy and the churches that he addressed by words. Through words, Paul invoked and evoked the giftings of Timothy. Paul invoked Timothy's spirit, in that he called for the stirring up of gift that was in him. Paul stated that he CALLED to remembrance to unfeigned faith that was in Timothy's mom and grandmother. He then evoked or appealed to Timothy's soul by encouraging him. Paul stated that God hadn't given Timothy a spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind. Paul letters still minister to us today. Paul letters, made of word, which are Spirit, ministers to us today!
Words expand knowledge capacity. Think about it? It's by the hearing of words that we gain understanding. Be aware of your thoughts. Be aware of what spirits are entering your gates. When bad spirits or evil words enter our spirit, we must pray for those words to be released from our spirits. If not, they become a part of our spirit!
Remember, the greatest battlefield in the soul is the in the mind.
Here's a prayer:
Lord, please allow every evil word spoken with my gates that have rested in my spirit to be dissolved now. May the blood of Jesus cleanse my conscious. May every lie be uncovered and dismantled now! Thank you, Lord, for the weapon of your Word. Thank you for its cleansing power. Thank you, Lord, for restoring my soul. Amen
