a computer virus is a program that replicates itself and can infect other programs or files. a computer virus is malicious software that is spread from one computer to another by sharing files. the virus usually travels along with the files. unlike a worm that can spread from computer to computer by itself, a virus can replicate itself only when files that it is attached to are moved to another computer. although a computer virus might attack a program or data file, it can also attack other parts of a computer, such as boot code, system configuration, system registry, or operating system files.

posttraumatic stress disorder (ptsd) is a disorder that occurs in response to a traumatic event. the disorder consists of anxiety, depression, flashbacks, avoidant behavior, and hypervigilance [ 2, 3, 17, 461, 462 ]. a trauma can be any event or situation that threatens or endangers life [ 17 ]. ptsd may be accompanied by complex trauma or in the form of complex trauma (e.g., torture). trauma can be internal (e., emotional or psychological trauma, physical injury, sexual abuse, kidnapping, or domestic violence) or external (e., exposure to natural disasters, interpersonal violence, war, combat, or combat-related experiences) [ 17 ]. symptoms of ptsd include re-experiencing the traumatic event (e., nightmares or flashbacks), avoidance of trauma-related stimuli, hyperarousal, and alterations in mood and cognition [ 17 ].
psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder, have been associated with approximately a 20% chance of comorbid ptsd [ 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 ], and ptsd is estimated to occur in approximately one-third of patients with psychotic disorders [ 2, 26 ]. moreover, ptsd is commonly co-occurring with these psychotic disorders, and the presence of ptsd can predict the persistence of psychotic symptoms [ 27 ]. in addition, there may be a bidirectional relationship between ptsd and psychotic disorders [ 28 ].
